PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 9440h. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1935 clandestinely for the German military. The bbl. extension is marked with a "G" (1935) date code over the chamber, with Mauser arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. Grips are unnumbered. Bbl. is a proper Mauser proofed bbl., with the second "4" in "9440" being stamped over a "5". MAGS: 2 aluminum bottom 8-rd. 1 non-matching and 1 marked "MADE IN GERMANY". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "CHEINICHEN/ DRESDEN." followed by a droop Eagle/WaA142 and "1935" on the rear. Holster contains a loading tool. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear and thinning, some areas of light surface oxidation, as well as some spots of light pitting beneath the bluing. Sideplate retains a mostly gray patina. Strawed parts are good, showing some wear and thinning, with worn areas exhibiting spots of age related discoloration. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips are good, showing mild smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks and marks to the diamonds. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, scattered handling marks, as well as some spots of age related cracking and crazing. (24-6904/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
