SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S#. 6640d. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol clandestinely, mfg. by Mauser in 1935. The bbl. extension is marked with a "G" (1935) date over the chamber, with Mauser arsenal proofs stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Major metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some smaller components exhibiting a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. Grips and mag. are mismatched. MAGS: one 8-rd. aluminum bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning, as well as some scattered spots of surface oxidation overall. Grip straps exhibit a mottled gray patina. Strawed components show varying degrees of wear that show through to gray patina and scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting mild to moderate degrees of pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered nicks and marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4652/MLW).
