SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 2558e. Bbl. 4". Professionally restored P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol, clandestinely mfg. by Mauser in 1935. The bbl. extension is marked with a "G" (1935) date code over the top of the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/63 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Major metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish, with strawed parts exhibiting a reheated finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All numbers are matching (save for the grips and mag.), with some small parts likely having been renumbered to match at one time. MAGS: one 8-rd. with aluminum bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their professionally reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some scattered spots of light thinning, with some minute spots of pitting present beneath the finish. Frame exhibits some scattered spots of surface oxidation and pitting beneath the grip panels. Strawed parts are very good overall, as refinished, with a few spots of light wear overall. Bore is bright as refinished, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Muzzle crown has been heavily cleaned and exhibits some light pitting. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as a couple of scattered nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-4123/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-2,000.
