Cal. 38-55. S# 577807. Bbl. 26". Model 1894 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1911. Left side of the rnd. bbl. is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./ NEW HAVEN.CONN.U.S.A. PATENTED AUGUST 21.1894.", with the cal. designation marked on the left side at the breech. Plain smooth wood straight grip buttstock with contemporary checkered black plastic Winchester buttplate and smooth wood forend. Blade front sight with V-notch semi-buck horn rear sight. Half-length mag tube. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear, thinning, and some spots of light to mild pitting, with the balance retaining a gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting and good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions, with some areas of wear to the varnish from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Right and left sides of forend exhibit a crack at the forend. (24-930/MLW). CURIO. $650-900.
