Cal. 22 S, L, LR. S# 41394. Bbl. 24". Model 61 slide action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1939. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model designation, followed by the Winchester trademark logo and cal. designation, with Winchester's mfg. and patent information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Grooved wood forearm and plain wood pistol grip buttstock with flat checkered steel buttplate. Wood furniture has been lightly sanded and refinished at one time. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and elevation adj. U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild edge wear, a few scattered small spots of wear, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Mag. tube and underside of bbl. exhibit typical areas of wear from cycling of the action. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with some flaking around the edges of the buttplate on the buttstock. Buttstock exhibits what appears to be 2 faint crack stemming from the receiver on the left side of the wrist below the finish. (25-386/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
