SPORTER RIFLE. Cal. 9x57R. S# 13717 (on bottom of action & barrel hidden by stock). Half rnd., half oct. 24" barrel has full length matted rib. Blade front sight & 2 leaf rear sight. Bottom of barrel has Pre WWII German Nitro proofs along with "118/35" indicating mfg. 1935. Unusual push feed case hardened action utilizing German 1888 Commission bolt system with push feed cutaway on left side receiver bridge with Model 98 Mauser box magazine. Receiver does not appear to be previous military action, but Haenel mfg. in 1935. Large portions of exposed receiver surface has fine stippling. Double set triggers. Walnut sporter stock with schnabel tip, barrel wedge, reinforcement lug, checkered round knob pistol grip, Bavarian cheekpiece, sling swivel & matching numbered steel buttplate. CONDITION: fair barrel blue with large portions fading to gray/brown patina with peppery oxidation & scratches. Receiver has very good case colors in protected areas with balance having good appearance. Good floorplate & triggerguard blue showing wear at forward tip from carry wear. Wood has good worn finish with light handling marks, sm. chips around floorplate & sm. crack extending from top tang. Good bore with noticeable rifling showing wear to hands & throat. (25-1666/MD).
