EMIL ECKOLDT OF SUHL GERMANY Cal. 16 Ga. / 7.6x63mm (30-06). S# 8275. The 26.75" Krupp-Llaufstahl bbls. have Dec. 1932 Suhl, Germany Nitro proofs; "KmG/ N 12 gr." proof indicates rifle suited for 12 grams (180 gr.) of copper jacket bullet. Shotgun bore choke appears to be Full. Matted top rib has bone blade front sight & 3 leaf pop up rear sight. Merkel style deep relief engraved boxlock action w/Woodland game scenes accented with oak leaf scroll having heavily stippled backgrounds. Engraving extends to triggerguard bow, fences, breech sides of barrels & forearm iron. Action has double triggers, extractors & crossbolt lock. European walnut forearm w/ floral pattern edges & ebony tip. Pistol grip European walnut buttstock w/ left side German silver presentation plate engraved that appears to read "James H Dickson"; other features include tear drops behind ears, ornate floral carving at right ear & on edges of grip checker, scalloped horn grip cap, & left side Bavarian cheekpiece. LOP: stock cut to 13" over Firearm Accessories brown ventilated pad. CONDITION: Barrels have very good original blue with light muzzle wear, swivel plate grounded smooth & several dents & 4 deep impressions on sides of matte rib. Receiver has very good coin finish with spots of varnish. Lightly sanded & refinished wood shows remnants of previous carving on bottom of forearm, remnants of previous sling swivel on toeline (wood filled repair), numerous light handling marks & 2 hairline cracks. Very good shiny bores with light fouling. (25-2058/MD). MODERN. $1,800-2,700.
