ACTION MILITARY SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# Z4002689. Bbl. 24". This is an excellent example of a Model 1903-A4 US sniper rifle from World War II, that are hard to find in unissued condition. It has a high degree of original finish, correct features & crisp markings. The 24" bbl. shows no evidence of a front sight having been fitted. The bbl. is marked "RA / flaming bomb / 9-43". Receiver w/ the correct offset markings is fitted w/ the correct Redfield one piece scope base and mounts a Weaver Model 330 C telescopic sight. The scope is marked "MODEL 330 / PATS. PEND. / W. R. WEAVER CO. / EL PASO, TEX., U.S.A.". The scope is additionally electro-penciled below the nameplate on the right side "TELESCOPE M73B1 / SERIAL NO. 11590". The blued steel 3/4" tube is fitted w/ a crosshair reticle. The adjustment knobs are the early flat top. The receiver has the correct notch for the bolt handle. Bolt handle has clearance for scope. Notch in stock is correctly executed. Walnut full pistol grip stock is marked on the left side over trigger guard "RA crossed cannons FJA". The cutoff recess is marked "K". Stock is fitted w/ two recoil bolts. All stamped furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate & large bow trigger guard. CONDITION: rifle appears to be unissued retaining nearly all of its original wood & metal finishes. Metal has the characteristic wartime grayish-green Parkerizing as does the furniture. Scope also retains a high degree of blue finish. Optics appear clear & serviceable. Very good shiny two-groove bore w/ sharp lands. (25-2252/RW). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
