AN ENGLISH STEPHEN GRANT & SONS UNDERLEVER SIDELOCK SXS GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 6890. This game gun appears to have a "Best Quality" type professional restoration with a new set of 28" barrels & stock set. The barrels have swamped game rib with front bead. Water table has 1954-1989 London Nitro proofs for ".729" bore diameter. Full & Mod chokes. Underlever sidelock action has grey finish along with generous coverage of acanthus scroll engraving. Engraving extends to new blued triggerguard, original forearm iron, sculpted fences & top tang. Water table of receiver has London C & V proofs along with post 1954 Birmingham Nitro proof. Features include double triggers & ejectors. Walnut splinter forearm with point pattern checkering, steel tip with push button release & forearm iron engraved with matching S# & "2"; indicating that this game gun was once apart of a brace. Straight grip walnut stock with carved tear drops behind the locks, point pattern wrap around checkering, & oval German silver name plate on toeline at tip of checkering. LOP: 13 7/8" to checkered butt. DAC: 1 3/8". DAH: 2 1/8". WEIGHT: 6 lbs., 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather carrying case with brass reinforcements. Lid is embossed "P.G.W." on top. Green velour interior with Stephen Grant label on interior of lid. Case contains 2 piece cleaning rod, brushes & oil bottle. Case is in fair condition showing numerous marks, scrapes & stains. CONDITION: barrels have very good black finish with light wearing of finish along with scattered marks. Receiver & locks have good gray appearance with restoration over heavy pitting on top tang, edges of lock & forearm iron. Near excellent blue on triggerguard. Wood has a very good finish showing numerous light marks & scattered deep dings into buttstock. Near excellent shiny bores. Barrels appear tight on face & ejectors appear to be in time. (24-6933/MD).
