RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1255 (electro penciled on bolt & receiver tang). R.F. Sedgley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania produced a large number of sporter rifles through the 1930's using Springfield 1903 actions; often referred to as "The Poor Man's G&H". Assembly number "303" applied to bottom of receiver & barrel along with stock channel. The tapered 24 barrel has band mounted blade front sight & Lyman receiver sight. Springfield 1903 action has been markings removed from receiver ring & stippled on top of receiver ring. Checkered walnut sporter stock w/ schnabel tip, swivel bases (front sling base fastened to barrel by band), hard rubber grip cap & checkered steel buttplate. CONDITION: good fading blue mixing with brown patina showing silvering of finish in carry areas of receiver & floorplate, numerous light scratches & spots of oxidation on barrel. Wood has good to very good overall appearance showing added varnish, light dings & handling marks throughout. Good rifling with light frosting. (25-2449/MD). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
