PISTOL. Cal. 54 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 8 1/2". Model 1836 flintlock pistol, mfg. ny R. Johnson. Lockplate is marked "US./ R. JOHNSON/ MIDDN CONN/ 1843". Left side of the bbl. is marked "JH/ P" over the top of the breech. Metal components are in-the-white. Wood stock is marked with two illegible inspector cartouches on the left flat. Brass blade front sight with integral iron ramrod. CONDITION: metal components exhibit surface oxidation overall. Brass flash pan exhibits a pleasing mellow patina. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand and locks in both the half-cock and full-cock positions. Wood stock exhibits some scattered marks and impressions, as well as some light chipping, with a small crack present on the left side of the lockplate and a small hairline crack present on the right.
