DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 38 New Police (.38 Smith & Wesson). S# 366491. Bbl. 4". Police Positive double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1934. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations, with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Rear grip strap is marked "RY.EX.AGY.", indicating purchase by the Railway Express Agency (1918-1975). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the sides of the hammer, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame and cyl. crane. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period brown leather holster, marked with a mostly legible "RY. EX. AGY./ COLT/ 38/ MADE IN U.S.A.". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild wear and thinning, with small scattered spots of light surface oxidation present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some extremely light pinprick pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show moderate smoothing and scattered superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear, consistent light age related cracking, as well as scattered spots of light to mild crazing overall. (26-1881/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
