MADE IN AUGUSTA GEORGIA. Cal. 36. S#1832. Complete, original, & matching Confederate revolver made in Augusta, GA. Rigdon & Ansley’s are one of only 2 twelve stop cylinder guns made in the Confederacy. The other being the Augusta Machine Works, also made in Augusta, GA. S# 1832 found on all parts normally numbered including bbl, latch, loading arm, cylinder, arbor, frame, trigger guard, back strap & wedge. Revolver was originally found in the accompanying crude, but functional holster made from salvaged leather from old Manassas Virginia collection dating back to the 1960s. “CSA” government acceptance stamped on top of bbl. flat and inspector “J” stamped on bottom of trigger guard. CONDITION: good to very good overall, iron has mottled gray patina w/ light pitting, brass is light mustard color. Markings are all discernible. Grips are sound & solid though slightly shrunk, glued repair to large sliver on left outside toe. There is an old eroded area at bottom of right grip that has patinaed en suite w/ rest of wood. Gun appears 100% original & complete missing only wedge screw. Mechanically functional w/ good rifled bore. Accompanying holster is sound and supple. (01-18458/JS). ANTIQUE. $20,000-25,000.
