Cal. 12mm. S# 13712. Bbl. 5 1/8”. Eugene LeFaucheux was selling many revolvers to both US & CS agents in 1862, when he patented this triple action mechanism that he hoped would increase military sales. It was popular in smaller bore 7mm & 9mm but turned out too fragile for military use in field. In addition to being able function as single action (SA) & double action (DA). A third action was when trigger pulled halfway cocking revolver, a notch held locking hammer & allowing free movement of cylinder to reload, or just have gun ready to continue fire in either SA or DA with shorter pull. These military models are not often seen and this is a fine survivor retaining most of its original finish. CONDITION: Fine, revolver retains most of its original blue on cylinder & barrel, and muted case colors on frame faded to silver/gray. Barrel address is crisp. Grips retain almost all their factory varnish. Mechanics crisp in SA, DA, and triple action. Bright shiny rifled bore. 01-22357/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
