A seldom-seen Dresser & Jillson trap for a mink or a muskrat. The inside ring diameter is 4" and the outside diameter is 5". The iron trap is clearly marked "C. JILLSON’S PATENT. JAN. 6, 1857" and "DRESSER & JILLSON. WORCESTER. MASS." The device is quite genius in its simplicity. The unfortunate animal crawling through the ring releases the spring, plunging to sharpened iron stakes through the doomed creature. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: three photocopied pages giving a brief description and value for Jillson traps. CONDITION: this example seems fully functional, with an overall dark patina but no active oxidation. (02-23281/BF). $800-1,200.
