Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4". S# 30070. The Super Fox is described by author Michael McIntosh as "the finest waterfowl gun of it's time-or any time". The Super Fox was a heavy waterfowl gun developed at the right time to take advantage of improving technologies in bbl. boring & shot shells. Famous bbl. maker Burt Becker built the Super Fox bbls. Cataloged by Fox & Savage from 1923-42, a total of no more than 300 were produced. Bbls. 32" of Chromox Fluid Compressed Steel. Water table of bbls. is stamped "BARRELS NOT GAURANTEED", referring to shot density. Case colored action w/ heavier frame having HE borderline engraving done in the early A grade style. Double triggers. Selective ejectors. Original splinter forearm & round knob stock. Stock is altered w/ added Monte Carlo comb. DAC: 2 1/8". Drop at Monte Carlo: 2 3/4". DAH: 3 1/4". LOP: shortened to 13 3/4" over a 1/2" spacer & Fajen plastic buttplate. Bore diameter: R: .736 L: .736. Choke constriction (appears to be opened): R: .029 L: .021. Minimum wall thickness: R: .035 L: .034. CONDITION: bbls. retain over 80% lightly faded original blue showing light scratches & handling marks. Very good bright bores show some plastic fowling forward of chambers. Front & mid beads are broken. Action retains over 50% lightly faded case colors. Wood has worn finish showing dents, scratches & marks. Stock has a crack on right ear w/ chips behind top tang. Top lever will not hold in open position. (24-1210/DS). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
