DELUXE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. S#. 10888. Research indicates that only 155 Model 1894 Winchesters left the factory with case hardened frames. Bbl. 26" octagon with sporting sights. 2/3 length mag held by a single bbl. band. Action & forend cap have desirable case colored finish. Forend & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of XXX walnut have striking burl figure. Features include style "H" checkering & hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Left side of lower tang is marked with assembly number "2427" followed by "OH" & "RB". Top tang channel of the stock has matching assembly number. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter giving the following information. "Serial number applied on October 26, 1895. / Type: Rifle / Caliber: 38/55 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Checkered stock with pistol grip / 2/3 Magazine / Shotgun butt, Rubber butt plate / Casehardened / Oil finished / Received in warehouse on October 29, 1895 / Shipped from warehouse on November 6, 1895, Order number 23139". CONDITION: Action retains 30% nicely visible case colors blending with areas of silvering. Hammer shows over 70% bright case colors. Bbl. & mag. tube blue is 80% showing light fading & edge wear. Oil finished wood shows light wear with a few small marks. Very nice bright bore retains sharp rifling. (01-23556/DS). ANTIQUE. $30,000-45,000.
