SHEATH. Howard Cole is best known for his texts on World War II & other military knives. Even though Howard was turned down for military service due to medical issues, he still supported the war effort making combat knives in his garage which he called “Roebuck Works” being in the Roebuck section of Birmingham Alabama. Howard made about 500 knives during World War II, all unsigned. After the war he continued to make fighting knives & this is one of his few signed examples. 11.75”, 7” MK2-style blade, 2.5” signed "MHC”, stacked alternating leather, aluminum, black & red plastic washer grip, heavy brass pommel signed “MH / COLE”. Tooled brown leather sheath signed “M. H. COLE / B’HAM ALA”. You will not find a better Howard Cole made fighting knife. CONDITION: excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Collection of Roger Ballard. (02-15647/JS). $600-800.
