SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 455 Webley. S# 2852. Bbl. 5". Mark I 1913 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Webley & Scott and subsequently issued to the Australian military. The left side of the slide is marked with Webley & Scott's winged bullet above "W&S" logo, followed by the model and cal. designations. Top of the slide is marked with a broad arrow within a "D", indicating Australian issue. Various commonwealth proofs are marked overall. Metal components exhibit a blue finish, save for on the trigger and extractor, which exhibit a black enamel type finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black vulcanite grips, featuring a grip safety, lanyard swivel, and ring on the rear strap. Fixed blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching via the full S# and include the frame, grip safety, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 blued 7-rd., with 6 transverse indicator holes. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original factory blue finish, showing areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, scattered superficial handling marks, and scattered spots of light to mild pitting overall. Left side of slide and bbl. exhibit areas of dark moderate pitting. Near mirror bore, exhibiting a few spots of light pitting and surface oxidation (towards the muzzle), while retaining well defined rifling rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing and scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-3556/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
