RIFLE. Cal. 11.15X58Rmm. S# 7658E. Bbl. 28 7/16". Dovetail mounted blade front sight w/ 1400 paces graduated leaf rear sight. Single shot rotary breech block action. Exposed hammer is inside the lock plate. Jaeger style steel hand rest trigger guard. 3 Band walnut stock w/ sling swivels & steel buttplate. Peak of buttplate has unit markings "2FW / 1548". Left side & toeline of stock have several partially legible markings. Action & rear sight have matching numbers. The Jaeger rifles were only issued to special troops such as Pioneers & Sappers. CONDITION: bbl. & receiver retain 70% lightly faded blue showing scattered light pitting & surface corrosion. Lock & breechblock finish are fading to a light gray. Stock has worn original finish showing numerous scratches, dents & handling marks. Sound action & lock. Bore is generally bright w/ strong rifling. (01-20691/DS). ANTIQUE. $600-1,000.
