GAME OR PIGEON GUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS. Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4". S# 1056-2637. Two sets of bbls., one chopperlump 30" is fitted with slightly raised matted pigeon rib and is engraved "L. Brancquaert" "Bruzelles" on tops. There are 3/4" and 1" triangles of scroll engraving at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped with pre-1927 Belgian black powder proofs. "1082" is stamped on splinter. A sling loop is screwed to bottom rib. The 28 1/2" monobloced bbls. are fitted with game rib and tops are engraved "Krupp Essen". Bbl. flats are stamped with remnants of Belgian proofs and 1949 Italian definitive proofs with bottoms of bbls. having bore diameter and chamber length (2 3/4"). Case hardened Beesley/Purdey type self opening sidelock action features nonautomatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, sideclips, and double triggers (front articulated). Action and locks are engraved in traditional English style with rose and scroll. Fences are relief carved with bursts of leaves and some floral highlights. Each lockplate is engraved "L. Brancquaert Bruxelles". Replacement buttstock of smokey marbled European walnut measures 13 7/8" over ribbed wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A sling loop is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend fits both bbl. sets. MEASUREMENTS: 30" BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .727", L .726". Restriction: R .038" (FULL), L .034" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .023", L .023". STOCK: DAH: 1 9/16". DAC: 1 3/16". LOP: 13 7/8". CAST: approx. WEIGHT: 6 lb 13 oz. CONDITION: good. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblue, original engraving considerably softened. Action is cleaned to coin finish, engraving still clear, some wear is evident. Engraving on blued top lever and trigger guard very soft. Newer replacement stock retains nearly all of its original oil finish, checkering with little wear. Forend refinished to match, checkering recut. Wood is considerably away from metal at base of iron. Bores are bright and shiny with two or three noted pits at breech ends of 30" bbls. There is also evidence of a few minor dents being raised. Sleeved bbls. are very fine, bright and shiny.
