INFANTRY CARBINE. Cal. 65. NSN. 57 3/4" Overall. Bbl. 42" rnd. w/ Tower inspector’s marks & proof. Lock has crown over “GR” cipher & broad arrow proof forward of cock & engraved vertically at tail “HASKINS / 1757”. Carbine matches specifications of other known examples such as pictured on page 173 of Battle Weapons of the Revolutionary War by George Neumann. CONDITION: good to very good overall as restored & refinished, 10 inches of forestock has been sliced, nosecap replaced. Markings are mostly crisp & discernible on bbl., lock, & stock. Mechanically fine w/ clear smooth bore. Sling rings are missing. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of John "Tim" Breth Jr. (01-17774/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
