LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. S# 15333. Case colored receiver, hammer, lever, forearm cap & buttplate. Research indicates that only 155 model 1894s were shipped from the factory with case colored frames. The highly desirable case colored actions were not catalogued after 1901. Bbl. 28" octagon, 2" longer than standard. Sporting front sight, Lyman No. 6 folding leaf rear sight with a combination tang sight. Full length mag. Walnut forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock with crescent steel buttplate. Stock & forearm have the distinctive style "I" factory checkering that identifies the highly collectable semi deluxe rifles. Inside of lower tang is marked w/ assembly number "3322" followed by a circular mark & number "47". Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number "3322". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Cody Firearms Museum Records Office detailing the following information, "SN applied: 6-8-1896. Date In: 7-1-1897. Rifle. Caliber/Gauge: 32/40. Bbl Shape: Oct. Length: 28. Trigger: Plain. Stock: PLain, pistol grip, checkered. Other Features: CH(case hardened). Date Shipped: 7-2-1897. Order #: 10440.". CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube retain over 90% lightly faded blue showing small handling marks. Frame, hammer & lever retain over 90% dark beautifully visible case colors showing carry & edge wear. Forearm cap & buttplate retain over 40% nicely visible case colors. Original wood finish & checkering show light wear with scattered scratches & marks.
