Cal. 36. S# 2528. Bbl. 7 1/2” octagon w/ New York address & small brass blade sight. Round six shot cyl. has Ormsby naval engagement rolled scene. Blue & case colored finish w/ silver finished backstrap & square-back trigger guard. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl., loading lever & wedge have matching numbers. Wedge retaining screw is located above the wedge as generally found on later productions. Trigger guard is marked “O” beneath S#. 1 Piece walnut grip. Second model S# range is approx. 1250-4200. Mfg. 1851. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: mahogany casing w/ faded red cloth fitted interior. Case contains patriotic themed navy size powder flask, 2 cavity brass, cap tin, case key & round balls. Also includes 1 wrapped package of combustible envelope cartridges. CONDITION: good. Metal has mottled gray brown patina w/ scattered light pitting. Cyl. retains good clear scene. Grip straps retain 30% silver finish having acquired a gray tarnish. Grips have dark appearance showing wear & marks. Action shows wear on hammer notches & exhibits rough operation. Several screws are replaced. Lightly pitted bore retains strong rifling. (01-22834/JB). ANTIQUE. $6,000-10,000.
