Cal. 7.63mm. S# 9450. Bbl 5 1/2". Chinese Warlord era C96 made by Hanyang Arsenal, in Wuhan, nicely marked characters on right frame, along with year “15” translating to 1926. Standard configuration C96 with a 5.5” barrel having front sight on barrel band (as typical for Hanyang made C96s). Slip-in rear sight marked 50-1000. Short extractor, single lug firing pin. Six Chinese characters on right side of frame (referencing factory and production year), with additional Chinese characters on the left side of the barrel extension (referencing bureau use). Serrated wood grips, the left panel having had its forward edge shaved for a better grip. No lanyard ring. Disassembly showing all matching numbers including the firing pin and each of the grips. Complete with an unmarked Chinese shoulder stock, later era and for a different pistol, with a sheet metal lug and exaggerated plunger. CONDITION: overall good with approximately 50% original blue the balance having faded to a brown gray. Fire blued small parts in comparable condition. Grips oil darkened, the left panel having been after-market recessed, as previously mentioned. Dull bore with easily discernible rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. Comparable condition stock with metal components largely oxidized to a gray brown. Considerable wobble when attached to pistol. One of relatively few Chinese C96s built in a recognized arsenal. (22-3175/LA). CURIO. $2,500-5,000.
