SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH CHINESE MARKED STOCK HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 4CH9708. Bbl. 4 5/8". MK. I* High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Canada by Inglis under contract for the Nationalist Chinese military. The left side of the slide is marked "MK. I*" above "BROWNING FN 9MM HP" and "INGLIS CANADA". Right side of the frame and slide exhibit Canadian proofing. Front grip strap is marked with several Chinese characters (likely indicating Communist reissue). Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent rear sight, graduated 50-500. Rear of frame is slotted for a stock attachment, with the left side exhibiting a provision for a lanyard ring. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 phosphate 8-rd. marked "JI" on the mag. body and on the split tail floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood shoulder stock marked with Chinese characters on one side. Stock iron has been repaired at one time. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina and silvering, with varying degrees of oxidation and pitting present overall (as to be expected from Chinese issued small arms). Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild oxidation and pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and numerous superficial marks from handling and storage. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with some minor chipping present on the body around the edges near the lid. Stock iron exhibits an aforementioned repair. A rare example of a Chinese marked Inglis Mk. I* pistol and stock. (25-1433/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-2,000.
