Seeing extensive usage on the Eastern Front during World War II, the PPSh-41 and its derivatives continued being utilized well after the conclusion of the war. During the Cold War era, Russia supplied PPSh-41 tooling to China, who mfg. their own variant designated the "Type 50". North Vietnamese forces received a number of Type 50 submachine guns in aid from China during the Vietnam War, where North Vietnamese gunsmiths and workshops modified approx. 10,000 examples (according to one source) to better fit the needs of close quarters combat in a jungle environment. The modified Type 50, designated the "K50M" remained virtually identical to the PPSh-41/Type 50 in terms of its mechanical functionality, but was modified via the addition a new lower assembly, which utilized an AK pattern pistol grip and French MAT-49 style wire stock. Additionally, the bbl, shrouds were shortened and the brakes removed, with AK style front sights added to the bbl. just to the rear of the muzzle. Bbl. 10 1/2". AK-47 style front sight with hood. Flip up aperture rear sight. The K50M SMG was made in North Vietnamese workshops using Chinese Type 50 SMGs. The SMG features a MAT-49 style telescoping stock & AK-47 style hardwood pistol grip. Parts have a variety of mixed numbers. No sling swivels present. Matte blue finish. Registration paperwork lists model as PPSh-41, caliber 7.63x25mm & mfr as Chicom. MAGS: 2-71 PPSH-41 drums. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: two drum pouches. CONDITION: pistol grip shows some flaking finish, dings & handling marks. Metal is turning an overall gray with strong traces of arsenal blue, some wear to screw behind top cover, dings, oxidation & operational wear. Mag release is loose, operating rod & recoil spring are missing so unable to test functioning properly. Bright very good plus bore.
