BOWIE WITH SHEATH. Though unmarked, little doubt that this is product of Bown & Tetley, Pittsburgh who marked his bayonets with nearly identical deeply ribbed birds head brass grips. 16.5” overall, 11.75” heavy clip point blade.
CONDITION: very good overall, blade gray/whit with pitting near tip. Folded brown leather sheath has Confederate look with added riveted belt loop and soldered tin strip reinforcement at throat. PROVENANCE: Pictured on page 232 “Accoutrements IV” by Jim Johnston. (02-16794). $7,000-9,000.
