INSIGNIA. Private purchase staff officer’s cap w/ wartime “Warnock & Co” impressed mark on silk liner on crown. Often seen in photographs but rarely surviving is embroidered “US” inside wreath insignia sewn to face of cap, eagle “I” side buttons. CONDITION: fair to good overall dark blue wool body has significant insect damage, several sm. holes & large loss of nap. Silk lining is only partially intact on sides but sewn portion to crown is complete w/ good discernible “WARNOCK” maker’s mark, sweat band is complete, chinstrap is broken & tack stitched to body for display. The original embroidered insignia has matching wear & condition to rest of cap. (02-14837/JS). $3,000-4,000.
