SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 68423. Bbl. 4 3/4". M/40 Lahti semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Sweden for the Danish Brigade and subsequently issued to Danish police after World War II. After the German invasion of Denmark in 1940, many Danish military personnel fled to Sweden. While in Sweden, these troops, deemed the "Danish Brigade", were trained and equipped to retake Denmark. Ultimately, the Danish Brigade was deployed on the same day of the German surrender of Denmark, and many weapons, such as this example, found their way into Danish police units. This example, falling within the appropriate S# range of 67000-69202, is marked "HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS A.B." above the S# on the left side of the bbl. extension. Left side of the frame is marked with the S#, with the rear stamped with a Swedish Crown/S.S., indicating inspection by Captain Sten Stenmo ("S.S." also stamped on the interior of the bbl. extension), with a Danish police marking "Rplt. S 5223" on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece inverse checkered black plastic grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame and bbl. extension. MAGS: 2 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster. CONDITION: very good, exhibiting some areas of light wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as a few concentrated spots of mild to moderate pitting overall. Near mirror bore, exhibiting what appears to be several spots of either light surface oxidation or hardened grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good overall. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear overall, with some areas of crazing, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. An extremely intriguing "Danish Brigade" M/40 Lahti pistol. (24-6492/MLW). CURIO. $900-1,300.
