Cal. 7.62x51. S# 15939. Bbl. 20". The SIG AMT (American Match Target) is a semiautomatic variant of the SIG Model 510-4, machine gun, one of 1440 imported into the United States between 1969-1978. This particular example was imported by Benet Arms of San Fransisco, California. Similar in legal history to the "G" Series" FAL, in 1969, a very small number of 510-4 semiautomatic rifles were built on machine gun receivers and finished w/ semiautomatic parts before being imported into the United States. The BATFE approved their importation, so they do not fall under NFA restrictions, but future imports were built on semiautomatic specific receivers & modified for USA "Sporting Purpose" criteria by turning down the grenade rings on the barrel & eliminating the bayonet lug. In the 1970s these rifles were priced far more expensive than comparable rifles, & the low import numbers combined w/ the high original price has made these some of the rarest & most desirable military-style offerings in the United States. The operating system consists of a closed-bolt, delayed blowback mechanism utilizing twin locking rollers. It is charged by utilizing a non-reciprocating op-rod, w/ a beer-keg shaped charging handle, protruding from the right side. The safety / selector is located on the left side of the receiver w/ a clever, folding winter trigger mechanism located on the right side, parallel w/ the magazine well. Matte black finish on all exposed metal parts. Protected post front sight. Elevation adjustable rear peep sight graduated from 100 to 600 meters. This example sports a rare factory scope mount complete w/ 1.25-4x20, Schmidt & Bender scope w/ duplex reticle. Folding bipod mounted just rear of front sight block rotates for storage above the 8" ventilated barrel shroud, out of the way, not interfering w/ operation. Folding carry handle rests on left side of receiver. Beautiful hardwood 6" forend w/ matching wood shoulder stock. Left side sling swivels, currently sporting black leather sling. MAGS: 1 steel 20 rd. CONDITION: Finish complete & consistent w/ only light thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. Previous owner thought to add a small wrap of duct tape on carry handle to help preserve wood finish on forend. Furniture exhibits only a few fine impressions as evidence of prior use. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (24-1542/JZ). MODERN.$9,500-12,500.
