HOLSTER. Brown leather 1911 M1912 Dismounted holster mfg. for the United States Marine Corps. This example is featured on page 43 of "Holsters and Shoulders-Stocks of the World" by Anthony Vanderlinden. Brown leather construction. with brass fittings and steel hanger. Rear features 2 slits towards the toe for a leg strap. Closure flap is embossed "U.S.M.C." within an oval. CONDITION: leather remains malleable, exhibiting wear, as well as areas with varying degrees of age related cracking and crazing overall. Closure flap exhibits losses to its stitching, with a pinned reinforcement placed on the left side. Pistol rest exhibits some losses to the stitching at and around the upper edges, but otherwise is good. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (02-24308/MLW). $800-1,200.
