SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 44704. Bbl. 4". 1 of approx. 3,500-4,000 Model 1906 Commercial Lugers (S# 26500-68000) mfg. by DWM, as noted on page 99 of "Lugers at Random" by Charles Kenyon, Jr. Left side of the bbl. extension is marked with Crown "B" and "U" commercial proofs, which are repeated on underside of the bbl., along with the addition of a Crown/G proof. Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram. Frame is stamped "GERMANY" below the S#. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, save for on some small parts, which exhibit either a straw or nitre blue finish. Lower safety position is appropriately polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Left grip is carved with an "L". New Model frame with grip safety and without stock lug. New Model breechblock and toggle "ears". All serialized parts are matching in the proper commercial (hidden) fashion, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension (on lug), breechblock, as well as the toggles. MAGS: 1 8-rd., with non-matching wood plug. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory rust blue finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and some pitting overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some small streaks of light pitting and some patches of light pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show areas of smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-3559/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-2,000.
