OF NEW YORK BUCKLE. This very seldom seen red Mills web belt was in use for a short time at the inception of Mills type web gear. The belt has 45 loops for 45/70 rounds and is bound on each end a thin white cotton band. There is a small 1" x 1/4" metal tag at one end that reads "ANSON MILLS PAT. DEC. 28-80. The "N Y" buckle has a tab on the reverse that reads "ANSON MILLS , PAT. FEB. 1. 1881. T. C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF. WORCESTER, MASS". The keeper is stamped "88" & "25TH". CONDITION: the belt shows very light wear overall, and the brass has a pleasing patina. (02-25120/BF). $600-900.
