1ST MODEL AMERICAN SA REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W American. S# 69. Bbl. 7" w/ rib & semi-circular front sight. Bottom of extractor housing has a small vent hole as normally found on the first 1,500 revolvers. Six shot fluted cyl. Top break action. Action, cyl. & bbl. have 75% coverage of hand engraving as done by New York engravers for S&W as well as their distributors. Engraving consists of vine type foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds having circular geometric designs around screw & pin holes. Nickel finish w/ case colored hammer & trigger. 2 piece fancy walnut square butt grips. Total of 8,000 mfg. 1870-72. CONDITION: over 90% original nickel finish w/ traces of case coloring remaining on hammer. Grips show light wear & marks. Sound mechanics. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling.
