REVOLVER W/ CANTEEN SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 36. S# 79446. Bbl. 7 1/2" octagon w/ Hartford address & dovetail mounted semicircular front sight. Six shot round cyl. w/ naval scene engraving. Small round iron trigger guard w/ forward mounted sling swivel. Blue & case colored finish. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl., loading lever & wedge have matching numbers. Left side of trigger guard has “M” inspection mark. Left side lower edge of bbl. is stamped “2”. 1 piece walnut grip. Mfg. 1857. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt English oak casing w/ green baize interior having provisions for the shoulder stock. Stock has brass fittings w/ chain attached canteen cap. Lower tang & peak of buttplate are marked w/ S# 79451, 9 numbers higher than the revolver. Inside lid has directions for loading & cleaning. Case contains powder flask, 2 cavity mold, sterling silver oil bottle, slotted tip cleaning rod, cap tin, round balls & bullets. Also included are spare mainspring, wedge, trigger spring & screws. Wrapped six round package of Merwin & Bray combustible envelope cartridges are included. CONDITION: very good to fine. Bbl. retains 30% dull faded blue. Cyl. retains very good scene, finish is faded to brown. Frame retains bright case colors balance fading to brown. Grips have worn original finish w/ areas of shaved wood upper portion to allow for shoulder stock attachment. Sound mechanics. Bright bore retains strong rifling. Shoulder stock has worn original finish showing numerous scratches & marks w/ areas of darkened appearance. Brass fittings have a mild patina. (01-22840/JB). ANTIQUE. $25,000-35,000.
