NO. 2 ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 32, S# 19380. Standard configuration, 6" barrel, one line address, patent marked cylinder. This revolver was made in 1864 and even though S&W was having a hard time keeping up with American orders during the Civil War, this revolver managed to make it to England with the typical added British proofs on barrel and each cylinder chamber. It was also English oak cased with pewter oiler & cleaning rod. This revolver is featured in November 2006 Gun Report article by Mike Bricker which is pointed out that the casing was found with British Lancer buttons mixed in with cartridges in casing. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: file of research & copy of November 2006 Gun Report article "Some Early Smith and Wesson Export Revolvers". CONDITION: fine overall, complete & matching serial numbers and assembly markings. Revolver retains about 80% of its original blue finish, markings all crisp and discernible. Virtually all the factory varnish is retained on rosewood grips. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore with pitting, face of cylinder is also pitted & assembly markings only partially discerned. Casing, pewter oiler, and tool are very good overall. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-25075/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
