Cal. 30 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 43" oct. Berks County style sideplate w/ a nicely relief carved butt. Silver half moon cheekpiece inlay & 4 piece engraved brass patch box w/ daisy head filial. Top flat of bbl. is stamped w/ makers name. Sellers book lists this maker as unlocated but the stock characteristics suggest Lancaster County manufacturer. CONDITION: 38" of forestock has been replaced or repaired & the flint lock appears to be a replacement. Patch box release needs work. The wood at the toe has been replaced where it was broken by shrinkage. This is a very rare gun that w/out the restoration would be a very valuable piece. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing.
