Frank Richtig made his famous knives from 1927 until 1977 in Clarkson, Nebraska. He was well known for his secret temper method & his knives were featured in Ripley's Believe it or Not for their ability to chop steel bolts & railroad spikes. His knives were famously used in WW2 by American forces. Among his satisfied customers who sent him letters were President FDR, Admiral Nimitz, Generals MacArthur, Eisenhower & Patton. This knife measures 13" overall w/ an 8" blade. Leather washer handle w/ red & brown spacers. Brass crossguard & pommel. Rear has of pommel has Ferrule & is marked "F.J.R. CLARKSON NEB.". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked leather sheath in fair condition. CONDITION: Brass parts are a dull yellow patina w/ some oxidation. Handles show some light flaking, dings & handling wear. Ferrule shows some oxidation & notable denting. Blade remains mostly bright w/ a couple spots of light oxidation & some scratches. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
