CARBINE. Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 212. Bbl. 19 3/8". Blade front sight with hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000m. Matching numbers on receiver & stock. Bolt is a 33/40 replacement numbered "692" without suffix. Scarce WW2 German carbine used by German Gebirgsjägers or mountain Troops. Receiver ring has "dot 1942" markings denoting mfr. by Brunn I in 1942. Blued finish. Rare 3-piece stock with three strong eagle "63" inspection stamps on right side of butt & reinforced buttplate. Left side sling provisions & original leather sling. Cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rubber muzzle cover. CONDITION: stock set shows a small spot of white paint splatter on left rear of butt, the expected scattered dings, handling marks & wear consummate with military usage. Metal retains 60% original blue with some light scratches on bottom metal, some light oxidation on exposed edges, scattered fading, edge, handling & operational wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good bright bore that shows some light frosting but strong rifling. (25-5072/MJC). CURIO. $2500-3500.
