MAUSER MODEL HSC SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 839420. 3 1/4". 1 of only approx. 4,500 "4th Variation" HSc semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Mauser for the German Kriegsmarine, according to "Axis Pistols" by Jan. C. Still. The left side of the slide is marked with the Mauser banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Mauser's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Left side of the rear trigger guard web is marked with a Kriegsmarine Eagle/ MIII/ 3 proof, with a German Eagle/N (also present on the right side of the slide) commercial nitro proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece flat checkered wood grips. Top of slide features a grooved sight channel, fixed blade front sight, and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. Safety lever appears to be caught on the firing pin, only moving approx. half way down to the safe position, but still allowing disassembly. MAGS: 2 7-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked with an Eagle/M on the body, beneath the closure flap. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting some mild edge wear, a few scattered superficial handling marks, as well as mild thinning on the rear grip strap that shows through to gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few small spots of what appears to be very light surface level pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, showing some superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting some wear, as well as areas of age related cracking and crazing. A very attractive example of a Kriegsmarine 4th Variation Mauser Model HSc pistol. (24-6847/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
