SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7821a. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1940. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac/ 40", and the S#, with partially discernible Eagle/359 acceptance proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Left side of the forward trigger guard web is stamped "ac", which is repeated on the underside of the bbl. lug. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag., stamped with non-matching S# "2505" on the floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their reapplied blue finish, showing areas of wear fading to gray patina, with scattered spots, patches, and areas of light to mild pitting present beneath the bluing and in worn areas overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent dark surface surface oxidation, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (25-5126/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
