Cal. 7mm Mauser. S# 0941. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight. Matching numbers on the receiver, bolt, and stock. Other parts are unnumbered, as is typical for VZ-24 rifles. Rare Guatemalan contract rifle made by Brno with only 4000 mfg. Top of receiver has bold Guatemalan crest. Left side rail has Brno markings. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with left side and bottom mounted sling swivels. No cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: stock set shows scattered dings, handling marks, and scratches. Bolt body shows scattered light oxidation and dried grease. Balance of metal retains 90% of its original blue, with some fading and light scratches on the exposed edges. Safety is stiff when hand-cycled, likely due to cosmoline buildup. Action is otherwise sound when hand-cycled. Very good, bright bore. PROVENANCE: from the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4623/MJC). CURIO. $800-1,200.
