COLT’S PATENT PAPER FOR GUN MAKING MACHINERY. 19th century. This hand colored French pen and ink drawing of Colt’s patent for gun making machinery executed for his French patent application of January 16, 1855. The diagram features eight separate figures contained on the sheet and exquisitely rendered in black ink w/ light blue & buff watercolor accents. Achieved w/ amazing detail. Duplicate of the original sheet of drawings deposited w/ the French patent office. A stamp of Colt patent attorney M. Perigna and numbered 1730, 46 rue Sainte-Anne, Paris as well as the blind stamp of the French patent office. Housed in a magnificent Empire, Second period black & lacquered frame. SIZE: image: 20-1/4” x 28-1/2”. Overall: 28-1/2” x 36”. CONDITION: fold marks appear on the line lithograph as it should. Color is generally strong & bright. (02-14691). $800-1,200.
