SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. S# 766. Bbl. 6 13/16". 1 of approx. 5,000 Model 1925 pistols mfg. by The Hartford Arms & Equipment Company prior to the company's acquisition by High Standard in 1932 (this design would go on the become High Standard's Model B). The left side of the frame is marked "MANFD. BY/ THE HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIP. CO./ HARTFORD, CONN./ PATENTED/ 22 CAL./ LONG RIFLE". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown synthetic grips. Left side of the frame is electro-penciled "CA. 0394861" beneath the left grip panel. Dovetailed blade front sight and square notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame (front grip strap) and slide (interior). MAGS: x1 blued steel 10-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that is fading to gray patina, scattered marks and scratches, as well as a patch of moderate oxidation at the bottom right edge of the front grip strap. Action occasionally functions properly, with the slide frequently getting stuck in the rearward position and having to be manually pressed forward again. Grips show some smoothing and superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-556/MLW). CURIO. $250-350.
