RIFLE. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 94. The Henry was a revolutionary repeating rifle introduced at the time of the US Civil War. The Iron Frame Henry is the scarcest & most desirable variation. Estimated quantity of 275 were produced in S# range 1-400. Bbl. 24" octagon w/ integral mag. tube. Shroud at front of bbl. rotates for loading. Brass blade front sight, open dovetail on bbl. w/ sporting leaf rear sight mounted on receiver dovetail. Straight grip stock of nicely grained walnut is fitted w/ the early style rounded toe iron trapdoor buttplate. Left inside of lower tang & top tang channel of stock have matching S# 94. All stock & buttplate screws have matching numbers. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 4 piece cleaning rod held in stock compartment. CONDITION: metal has a heavy brown patina showing spots of corrosion & handling marks w/ series of dents around the top edges of both side plates. Stock has mildly worn finish showing numerous scratches, & marks. Small chips are found around both sides of lower tang. Smooth mechanics. Bore retains largely intact rifling showing scattered pitting. (01-24170/DS). ANTIQUE. $80000-100000.
