PREFIX P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# b213. Bbl. 4 7/8". 1 of only 15,000 P.38 semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Spreewerke during World War II that received an "a" or "b" S# prefix, as referenced on page 266 of "The P.38 Pistol" by Alexander Krutzek. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Spreewerke's "cvq" code and the S# "b213", with Spreewerke Eagle/88 acceptance proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a dull salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown grips. Right grip panel is comprised of pressed resin, with the left grip appearing to be comprised of a brown synthetic material. Dovetailed blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal salt blue finish overall, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage. Mirror bore, exhibiting some pinprick spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Mag. exhibits wear through to gray patina, with some traces of bluing remaining. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-554/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
