You will not find a crisper photograph of a trooper (Lafayette Wells) circa 1885 with signal corps insignia on sleeve and cap, wearing a model 1832 two piece interlocking US buckle, holding 1860 cavalry saber, Spencer carbine leaned against gate in foreground, stabler devise clearly seen. This image was taken in Portland, Oregon and "Lafayette Wells" penned on reverse. CONDITION: very good overall, light toning. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
