Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 10726. Bbl. 31". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. A rare Japanese navy rifle w/ a sliding dust cover similar to that of the Siamese Mauser family. The Type 35 represented the Japanese Navy's attempt to correct problems w/ the Type 30 hook-safety Arisaka rifle. The receiver top has a fully intact mum & Type 35 markings. Left side rail has Tokyo Arsenal markings. Visible parts all have different assembly numbers. Hardwood stock set w/ two-piece butt construction & bottom-mounted sling swivels. Right side of the butt has three Kanji characters, one of which translates to "Force". Rear sling base is missing one screw. Cleaning present that has a broken-off tip. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework finish w/ joint separation, a chip at the rear of the handguard, a couple small cracks at the rear of the handguard, scattered gouges, dings, scratches, handling wear, & flaking. Metal retains 50% arsenal blue w/ scattered oxidation, fading to gray, some light pitting, & edge wear. Worn bore w/ some scattered pitting. (23-6965/MJC). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
