20.5" Overall, 15.5" single fullered blade which tapers to its widest point 2" near tip, .35" thick, solid brass feathered grip with flared flat "bowtie" type quillons. This exact hilt is also known with large clip point bowie blade. One bowie knife had strong Memphis TN provenance, so potentially this could be a product of Memphis by unknown maker early in the war. CONDITION: sword is good to very good overall with old sharpening to blade, overall gray/white with staining, pitting, old tool marks, slightly loose as it is missing its original protective washer. The accompanying sheet copper scabbard with repurposed harness leather throat & frog is most likely a later edition but it also shows some age. (02-19080/JS). $2,000-3,000.
